A cardboard cut-out of a police officer may have led to a reduction in crime. It’s an amusing thought, at least. However:

Deputy Chief Robert Lenehan says the fake cop, along with video cameras and a new lock, has cut bike thefts by 67 percent.

It seems like the credit might go to the cameras and lock, rather than a piece of cardboard. Either way, though, it may be best to keep it quiet. If you tell people it’s a cardboard cut-out, then they’ll know.
