Over at Ars Technica, Lee Hutchinson has written about the nearly-impossible rescue plan that might have saved the astronauts who ultimately perished in the Columbia disaster on STS-107. It’s an incredible “What if?” tale, gripping even when you know that it never came to fruition. Be sure not to miss the final page, with its stirring account of the memorial service for those who died back in 2003.
