Open Table Redux

Monday, May 25th, 2015

Last year, I made note of the goofy scale OpenTable provided for customers to report noise levels at restaurants. Most preposterous was the “Do Not Recall” item, which had the appearance of being the loudest:

Recently, I noticed that OpenTable had changed the scale for the better. It now uses a level meter-style look, one which is easily understood to mean louder the farther right you go. Have a look:

While I might put the “Do Not Recall” option separate from the rest, this new input is greatly improved. Doubtless some fine designer and/or engineer at OpenTable is a loyal One Foot Tsunami reader, and caught the earlier post. I’m delighted to have played a part in improving the design of their site in some small way.

Shut up. Just let me have this.
