The Boston Red Sox are planning a statue for the great Carl Yastrzemski, who played with the club for 23 seasons. It’ll be the third statue outside of Fenway Park, and unless they slip him in in the background photobomber-style, the first not to include Ted Williams.

The dedication ceremony is set for 11 a.m. on Sept. 22, prior to Boston’s 1:35 p.m. game against the Blue Jays…Toby Mendez, who created “The Teammates,” will sculpt the Yastrzemski statue.

Wait a second. Has Mendez not yet started the work? If not, he’s going to need to hustle.
