Last week, Businessweek had a piece on UPS’s Scott Abell, who has been dubbed “Mr. Peak”. Abell spends almost the entire year on the planning and logistics of delivering the millions of packages UPS is tasked with each holiday season. The article was interesting enough, particularly the tidbit that UPS began as a small Seattle-based private messenger service that delivered cocaine and pitchers of beer, as well as packages.
However, the most interesting thing happened just a few days later, on Christmas. Unfortunately for UPS and Mr. Abell, this was the top story on Google News, Christmas Day:
A Rough Day for Mr. Abell
Mr. Peak has probably had better Christmases.
