As World War Two broke out, British humanitarian Sir Nicholas Winton worked nearly single-handedly to save the lives of 669 children. He has since been recognized many times for his heroic work. Milos Zeman, president of the Czech Republic, also plans to honor him. The arrangements, however, are something less than stellar.

Zeman says he will award Winton the Order of the White Lion on Oct. 28 and invited him to receive it in Prague.
