A Couple Hundred People Out There Can Still Say “I Work at Blockbuster”

In the late ’90s and early 2000s, Blockbuster video was on top of the world, with thousands of stores and billions in revenue. Now, however, Blockbuster is dead. Well, almost. In Alaska, and a tiny number of other locations, the video rental outlets remain as a living reminder of a long-ago era.

In addition to the aforelinked Washington Post piece, Tom Krazit recently took a deeper look inside one Oregon Blockbuster that’s still gutting it out. These stores are not long for this world, but for now, they remain open and ready to rent you movies.
