Ostrichs in Government, Part I

Ostriches don’t actually stick their heads in the sand in the face of danger, but some humans certainly do.

Last month, I saw two different stories of idiocy in state government last month, which I let marinate. They’ve stuck with me, due to their hideous head-in-the-sandedness. Now, I must share them.

First up, we have Florida governor/Trump lickspittle signed legislation that will deprioritize climate change and ban wind turbines in many places. DeSantis claimed:

“We’re restoring sanity in our approach to energy and rejecting the agenda of the radical green zealots.”

The radical agenda here is one that does nothing to stem the effects of climate change, and in fact actively makes it more difficult to do so. It is not an extreme idea in the least to try to prevent sea level rise from washing away huge chunks of the state one governs. For Florida, and the planet, 2027 can’t come soon enough.
