Apparently, 2008’s Higher Education Opportunity Act required American colleges to work at stemming the tide of piracy taking place on their campuses, due in no small part to the high-speed connections to which students had access. As part of this, universities wrote warnings to students, advising them to avoid illegal activity with an assortment of peer-to-peer apps.
And then, it seems, many of them never modernized these documents. TorrentFreak has collected an amusing assortment of badly out of date warnings. I suspect memories will be evoked for many of this site’s readers simply by reading names like “KaZaA” and “Limewire”.
