A dinner cruise down in Florida took a detour to effect an important rescue:
“I looked out the window, and sure enough, I saw a little head swimming by,” [Captain Terry Johns] tells PEOPLE. Johns says he saw the dog swimming towards the back of the boat, a dangerous spot for the canine to be near.
Johns and his crew were able to pluck the poor pup out of the water, and doesn’t she look pleased?

It took a bit more work for Ellie to be reunited with her family, but she’s back home and safe now.
