Slap Fighting Is Idiotic

It’s also obviously bad for your health.

A year or two back, I learned about slap fighting. It is the dumbest sport I can recall seeing, and I’ve seen real-life quidditch quadball. In slap fighting, opponents stand across from each other and exchange vicious slaps. There is no protective gear and no defending. Even flinching is prohibited.

I’m not a fan of other combat sports like boxing or mixed martial arts, but at least those battles allow one to defend themself. This, meanwhile, is a look at slap fighting in action:

One man getting slapped, hard, by another

Appealing, no? I’m sorry, I got that all screwed up. Appealing? No!1

The idea that this has any allure as a participant, or even a spectator, is terribly foreign to me. Instead, it makes me a little sick. And as you might easily imagine, it’s making competitors sick too. Doctors have recently warned about the potential for serious brain damage in slap fighting. You are probably not shocked.
