Speaking of saving taxpayer money, two candidates for the Galt City Council recently saved their town about $99,997. When Mathew Pratton and Bonnie Rodriguez wound up tied for a single council set, they opted to forgo a costly special election. Instead, to settle the matter, they drew straws.
My only quibble: Did they actually need to purchase a pack of straws?
