Boston Beer Company co-founder Jim Koch drinks a lot of Sam Adams beer. Yet he believes he also has a trick to mitigate the effects of all that alcohol.
Koch told me that for years he has swallowed your standard Fleischmann’s dry yeast before he drinks, stirring the white powdery substance in with some yogurt to make it more palatable.
“One teaspoon per beer, right before you start drinking.”
While the piece is interesting, the reporter’s account is definitely more than a little suspect, as he “saw a whole slew of beers almost magically appear on [his] table”. Further, Esquire’s own followup “test” was rather unscientific, and had mixed results. Nevertheless, the concept is intriguing.
