D.A. Henderson was one of the people who rid the world of smallpox, saving millions of lives in the process. He passed away recently, and Brady Dennis took the time to share an amusing story:
“I used to bring home smallpox in my pocket,” he said merrily. “I would store them in the fridge until I could get them back to the lab.”
Nowadays, having smallpox in your fridge is likely to lead to you being locked away in federal prison. Those were simpler, germier times.
