Exposure to [waist-deep muddy water] is how Sonoma County officials determined participants like Goldsmith had fallen ill, prompting them to issue a health advisory last year after hundreds of people flooded local emergency rooms with disturbing symptoms such as boils, fevers, diarrhea, muscle aches and uncontrollable vomiting.
